How it felt to be at Bumbershoot

On Saturday, we went to my very first Bumbershoot festival. We got to see my future uncle in-law’s former band Sweet Water play and they rocked! The singer even gave me a shoutout which felt amazing except that I was too far from the stage to see the singer when it happened. It felt really good to hear that it wasn’t just the former drummer who had been aware of my existence. Once we got closer, it was even louder and more rocking. After the show, we had the honor of going backstage and seeing the members face to face. We got to talk to the band and get a picture with them. I felt very accomplished knowing I could brag about this on my first day of high school. My dad also showed off his Sweet Water t-shirt, which got different reactions from each of the members.

Then we saw an all-female rock band called Thunderpussy who put on even more of a spectacle than Sweet Water. (No offense to Sweet Water of course. 😊) I could tell the singer was really into the rock. I was too far from the stage to see them though. It seemed we all got into them, even my Aunt Ashley. The singer also apparently did some cool leg kicks during the show.

The last band I saw was a band called Ride. They were also rockin’ but I didn’t stick around long enough to really get into them. I don’t think I’ve ever rocked harder in one day.

  1. What a fabulous day!!  It was so nice of your  sweet uncle in law, Paul to organize all of this.  Most people never get a chance to meet a famous band and go backstage. I guess he’s sweet uncle Paul from now on.  Xoxo Nonna

  2. That’s so awesome! It’s always fun to go to a show and rock out, but meeting the band? That’s really cool! A rare treat that not too many get to experience. Really cool!

  3. “I don’t think I’ve ever rocked harder in one day.” Oh yeah!!! Sounds awesome, Lucas. Love this picture and looks like your dad was really rockin’ too!

  4. Dear Lucas, I am a rocker myself!
I have heard of Sweet Water and should give them a listen.
Glad you had a great time!
Rock on! Concerts are the best but it has been  a loooooooooooooong time since I went to a real rock concert.
    Peace on,
