Raven diary #1: Introduction

Dear diary

Raven here

My name is Raven Hanson, and I am a noble and generous cat, living in a house owned by the handsomest kid in the universe. But this first tale in my miserable diary series, is anything but noble and generous on a cat or kitten’s heart. So, all you cats and kittens, I recommend putting this bad beginning down, and doing something that much more pleases your brain, like chasing a mouse or your neighbor pet.

Folks, I am so, so, severely depressed. I want to fight with someone. A cat or even a dog who understands my toughness and commitment to fighting as a cat. One who I can pounce on, meow and yowl at, Until then, I guess I’ll just sit and watch the CatTube channel.

Wait… An ad for the CatWit games, the best competition in cat history. Hosted by three billionair celebrity cats named Sissy, Ochi and Lucy. The basics of this competition is that ten competitors take part in five cat competitions and the last cat standing wins a prize.

Let’s listen and I’ll tell you more later.

“ARE YOU A CAT WITH A CLEVER DEMEANOR? Ochi says, A CAT WHO IS TIRED OF LYING AROUND WITH NO ONE TO FIGHT WITH?”

“WELL COME ON DOWN TO THE CATWIT GAMES. Sissy continues, WE’VE GOT SEVEN COMPETITIONS THAT WILL HAVE YOU USING YOUR BIG BRAIN.”

“AND IF YOU ARE THE LAST CAT STANDING, YOU WILL WIN THE GRAND PRIZE. ALL THE FIGHTS YOU WANT WITH THE NEW CAT IN TOWN, LOLLIPOP.”

The screen switches to an image of a golden cat. Imagine all the hissing and battles we could have.

“SO COME ON DOWN TO THE CATWIT GAMES.” “ENTER YOUR NAME TODAY, AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET TO FIGHT WITH THE NEW CAT.”

I must enter folks. I need to have someone to fight with other than the mundane Watson. I tried fighting with him once and belive me, it did not go well.

Folks, I applied and I’m in the games. I’m here to tell you that – don’t tell the competition – I’m a little bit nervous. Some of the other constestants seem way more experienced. Of course I have a big brain, but they’re going to ask us to practice yowling the loudest, biting the hardest, being the best to sneak up on things and lets not forget hissing, scratching, pouncing and strangling. Whoever completes all or most of these tasks wins Lollipop as a neighbor.

Three weeks later:

Raven here:

Hi folks. It’s been three weeks since I’ve last written and the competition has been tough. There have been many battles and conflicts too dreadful and complicated to describe. But all and all, I won it all and now Lollipop is now my new neighbor! My first battle with him was intense. It involved all of the following, yowling, meowing, biting, sneak attacks, hissing, scratching, pouncing AND strangling.

But all and all, I think we’re gonna have a GREAT relationship as frenemies.

  10. Hi Lucas. I love that Raven is “noble and generous.” We need to schedule another round of cards against humanity so we can all hang out and I can maybe catch a glimpse of the cat who inspired your great writing!

You really are good at writing, your diary entry is quite short and yet a lot has happened and I can imagine it clearly and easily. Good on you :). I’m glad you’re sharing this.
