Hi fans,
I was just in an online writing camp this week. I wrote a lot of stuff, but here is one of them.
My life
I’m from the capitol of the U.S. I come from busy streets with lots of iconic buildings and parks. I come from sunshine and activism. A place where my family and I made lifelong friends.
I moved when I was 2, so I also come from a place that is organized. Houses are lined up. there are schools within walking distance. Beautiful lakes and beautiful trails. So many things I’ve seen all these years. Made friends, told stories, and traveled the world. From the cold, breathtaking, quiet mountains to the tall, dense redwoods.
My home is kind and accepting to me. Lots of little kids that I can see. Many of them are our friends.
When I’m outside on a stroll in my wheelchair, the sidewalks are smooth and occasionally bumpy. People are out and say hello as my family pushes me down the street. I see trees and houses, schools and stop signs. I hear loud vehicles passing by. People walk up and say hi to me and I don’t know who they are. I’m a really famous person out there and that feels a little weird at times but most of the time, good.
Life sounds good!! I love this line: “I come from sunshine and activism.” Beautiful.
Yeah I love coming from “sunshine and activism” too – what an evocative sentence. I was also struck by this – so vivid! I felt like I was right there: “From the cold, breathtaking, quiet mountains to the tall, dense redwoods.”
Thanks for sharing Lucas!

Gracias Lucas por compartir tu experiencia de vida, te felicito por ser un muchacho de grandes historias y ponerlo por escrito para que mas gente pueda aprender de ti, te mando un abrazo.
I’m glad that Washington DC is still part of your story and I love this description of the way your life is now! It gives me great images of your family walking through your lovely neighborhood. 🙂
